About Burning Salad

I’m Nancy McCall, 40 years young, living life in Manchester and finding every excuse to laugh along the way. When I’m not wrangling office paperwork or having a pint with friends, you can probably find me at the gym (trying to offset the extra servings of chips and chocolate). I’m engaged to Nick – we’ve been “almost-married” for ages now, though setting a date seems to keep slipping through our fingers!

Now, let’s get one thing straight: I absolutely love food. Eating it, talking about it, and, ideally, cooking it without starting a kitchen fire. Yes, I’ve earned myself quite a reputation for my culinary mishaps, and let’s just say that’s exactly how “burningsalad” came to be. Spoiler alert: I actually did burn a salad once (in my defense, it was just the chicken that caught fire…though that didn’t save me from endless teasing).

This blog is a lighthearted look at my cooking journey – the good, the bad, and the ones that’ll make you cringe-laugh. There have been some serious disasters along the way (ask anyone about that Christmas dinner), but I’ve had my fair share of wins too. I might not be the next MasterChef, but I can now pull off a mean Sunday roast without setting off the smoke alarm.

Alongside stories of my kitchen capers, I’ll share the quirky gadgets and gizmos that make cooking just a little bit easier (or funnier!). So, if you’re here for a good laugh, some honest cooking inspiration, or just proof that everyone starts somewhere, stick around. I hope you enjoy reading this blog as much as I love sharing my trials and triumphs with you – even if my track record in the kitchen is still a bit, well… crispy.
