My Favourite Must Have Kitchen Gadgets Part 1

Tala Cook's MeasurerIf you are passionate about cooking and experimenting in the kitchen like I am, there will be gadgets that you won’t feel confident cooking without.  Below is a list of my favourite kitchen gadgets, some of which you may already have and use, while others may be completely new to you.  I recommend them all to the budding Jamie Olivers and Nigella Lawsons out there.

Tala Cook’s Measurer

What I find more often than not that a lot of my favourite kitchen gadgets and utensils are the less complicated ones.  This little tin is very practical and is marked so that you can measure the ingredients that you always use in cooking.  I love the fact that it has a 1960′s style design and is much easier than using the scales all the time.

Alessi Spoon Rest

As well as messy, resting a spoon or ladle on your kitchen counter can be very unhygienic.  From Alessi comes this handy little gadget that will hold your ladle or spoon regardless of their length or size and is small enough that it will not be obstructive in even the smallest kitchens.

OXO Good Grips Potato Ricer

If like me, you have trouble making perfectly smooth mashed potatoes, you really need this ricer in your life.  It has a non-slip knob that enables it to hook onto a bowl easily and is dishwasher friendly.  I have been told by friends with babies that it is great for making baby food.

Microplane Grater

My mum bought this for me and warned me that she had used her own Microplane grater a bit too enthusiastically and cut herself.  This is a 4 sided box grater that comes with Microplane’s most popular blades, extra coarse, medium and fine, as well as a slicer too.  Also, a neat touch to the design is that one of the box’s panels can slide completely out to make cleaning much easier.

Chef’n Freshforce Citrus Juicer

I have always hated the process of juicing limes and lemons, but love adding those flavours to my cooking.  This device is the perfect way getting all that messy juice everywhere.  It only requires the lightest of squeezes to extract more juice from your fruit than other juicers on the market and it collects all the pith and pulp in the enclosed strainer.

KitchenAid Artisan Stand Mixer

I love baking and that is why my boyfriend treated me to this stand mixer from the amazing company KitchenAid.  As well as looking good, it is very hardy and is one of the most versatile mixers I have ever used.  I use it whenever I am making bread dough, meringues or cakes.  It is big, I would warn you, but well worth the price tag.

I discuss the rest of my favourite kitchen devices and gadgets on the following page, so please be sure to click through and see if there is anything else that you need in your life!
